Google Business Profile suspended: preparing an appeal without making the problem worse
When a profile disappears, the order matters. First establish which decision Google has made. Then put the details and evidence in order. Only after that file an appeal.

Check the verification status and the Google account you are using.
Read the specific decision in the appeals tool.
First clarify the restriction of the managing account.
For a local business, a vanished Google Business Profile is not an abstract SEO problem. Calls, route requests and the first impression can depend on it. That is exactly why hasty action is dangerous: according to Google, creating a second profile for the same business is not the right way. An appeal that ignores the detail that was objected to cannot explain the actual problem either.
Profile suspended, unverified or account restricted?
Start in the Google account linked to the profile. The fact that a business does not appear on Maps does not yet say which measure applies. An unverified profile can have different visibility problems than an explicitly suspended profile. A restricted owner account is also a separate situation: Google points out that the profiles managed by that account may then be affected.
Open the verification status and, if a suspension is shown, the decision in the appeals tool. It may show the date, reason, affected policy and the option to appeal, among other things. Record these details. A provider who only receives a screenshot of a Maps listing that is not visible cannot yet reliably distinguish between missing verification, a profile decision and an account problem.
If the managing account is restricted, clarification starts with the account. Google describes a separate appeal route for this; only once the account restriction has been lifted can the profile appeal become relevant. With several locations, do not assume they all have the same cause. Check the decision for each affected location.
Which account manages the profile? Which profile ID or location is affected? Which decision does the tool actually show? These three details prevent you from working on the wrong object.
Which details have to be right before the appeal
Google requires the profile to comply with its guidelines before an appeal is filed. So check the name, category, address, opening hours and the actual business model against reality. A service provider who only travels to customers should not present an unstaffed office as a shop customers can visit for SEO reasons. A virtual office does not become a suitable customer location just because it has a postal address.
Work with a short list of evidence instead of assumptions. Does the business have an official business registration or trade licence? Are tax documents or utility bills available? Google mentions such documents as possible evidence. The name and address on the submitted documents should match the details of the affected profile. A pile of documents with contradictory company names is therefore less helpful than a few unambiguous ones.
A correction to the profile is not automatically an admission of guilt. It is meant to bring the public information into line with the real business. If the detail objected to is unclear, document the current state and the factual explanation for it. Google decides on reinstatement; an agency cannot guarantee it.
Reinstating a Google Business Profile: evidence and appeal
Prepare evidence before you start the appeal. For the EEA, Google describes a 60-minute window for submitting optional evidence via the linked form. Anyone who only starts looking for business documents after submitting loses time unnecessarily. Check file names, legibility and whether the data match beforehand.
- Read the decisionSelect the right profile and the specific restriction in the linked account.
- Compare the detailsCompare the guidelines and the real business activity with the profile and the documents.
- Justify the appealBriefly explain why the profile is legitimate; attach suitable evidence.
- Note the statusDocument the submission and the later decision instead of creating several new profiles.
Write factually. “We are losing customers” explains the urgency but does not prove that the profile is eligible. Verifiable information is more useful: where the business actually works, whether customers can visit the location and which documents support this information. Google points out that an appeal can only be submitted once per decision. Care before sending is therefore important.
After the decision: check the status and next steps
The appeals tool shows states such as submitted, approved or not approved. After the review, Google informs you by email. Check the status of the specific profile and keep the message. If the appeal was rejected, Google describes a route for a renewed review with additional evidence. This is a targeted second review, not an invitation to submit the same text as often as you like.
If the profile was reinstated, then check the details that are actually visible: name, address or service area, opening hours and contact route. A listing that is visible again can still mislead customers if the original details were incorrect. Problems with a reinstated profile can be resolved through the profile help.
For long-term maintenance, a simple rule applies: the profile should describe the business customers actually find. How address and Service area differ for mobile businesses and which basic details have to be right first are separate decisions. With a suspension, they matter above all because an appeal can only be built on a consistent starting point.
